My first two children were born in a hospital with midwives. Although their births weren't terrible, I felt somehow let down because they weren't the experiences that I had envisioned. It was only later that I realized that I had not taken the time to educate myself enough to advocate for the births that I wanted.
I came out of those experiences determined to help women birth on their terms. While there isn't a one size fits all model for how birth should look, helping women figure out what was important to them in their birth experience became my passion. It is my goal to give women and their partners evidence based information so that they can make decisions that are right for their family.
When our third child was born at home it was such a contrast to my previous experiences because I went into it knowing what I wanted. I became more determined than ever to help other women have a birth experience that they would remember for the right reasons.
When I'm not attending births I love spending time hiking or listening to Hamilton with my family. I am an avid reader, hopeful gardener and reluctant runner.
